Taking the Plunge

Written by Alex

To say 2020 has been a year of change and demanding flexibility for almost everyone is an understatement. In our little home we’ve had to adjust to distance learning schedules and losing our primary caretaker for our three boys (among all the other COVID stuff).

It was pretty clear from the outset that we wouldn’t be able to manage long term to both work full time and give our boys the time and attention they need. As a couple, we’ve often discussed the idea of Jeff working for himself, doing photography, carpentry, and art. Sitting in a cubicle every day has never been his goal, but it gave our family the stability we’ve needed for the last few years.

Given our current need for someone to be home with our boys, we decided now was the time to take the leap. It’s been a stressful couple months (mostly for Jeff who has had to manage still working and kids full time) while we talked through our options and made sure we could do it without putting our family under a big financial strain.

As scary as it is to leave something familiar and stable (Jeff was with his company for almost ten years!), we’re so excited for this adventure. We hope you’ll join our adventure by thinking of us for all your photography needs (or custom wood/art work!), referring us to your friends or family, or simply by liking/sharing/commenting on our social media posts.

Looking forward to whatever the future holds!

COVID Mother’s Day

Smash cake for Phineas

Got to do some photos for a good friend and her wonderful little family for a special occasion:  her son Phineas’ first birthday smash cake. Mom made the crown (and cake!) and I was seriously dying of cuteness. Not to mention there is something just so tragically funny about a kid crying his heart out while at the same time shoving cake in his mouth.

Jason and Ariana Part 2

Just in time! We planned on doing this maternity session a couple weeks earlier but life happens and had to reschedule. And it’s a good thing we got it in, little baby Burris decided she was ready for her closeup just one week after the maternity shoot. It was a great day at the Orange circle which happened to be the same location we did their wedding photos back in 2012! We got to recreate some photos from the wedding shoot but with bonus dog and belly this time. After making a very pregnant Ariana walk her feet off in Orange (although she was amazing and smiled and laughed through the entire event) we said goodbye and planned on seeing each other for the delivery a few weeks later. Then the following Friday morning I got a text that baby was on her way! Well almost. After a long day and night and part of another day (without any drugs) momma Burris finally delivered little Cameron May ( I absolutly love that name). It was such a beautiful experience to be a part of. I feel truly blessed to be able to capture these moments for such wonderful people and now wonderful parents.

Eldridge family

I absolutely love and feel so honored to be a part of these Eldridge family memories through the years: from maternity shoots to family sessions with the now two year old Sofia (who is more adorable than ever!). First we took some shots at the Hyatt Regency in Huntington beach, which is where they had their wedding photos done. And it happened to be their anniversary the day before. Then a few days later we took a drive down to Laguna Beach and had a great time walking Heisler Park and down to the water to get our feet wet. It’s days like this that make it so hard for me to put my camera away and head home. Really looking forward to what the future holds for me, and where this adventure in photography will lead me in years to come!
